On a sunny Sunday morning Kanturk AFC U14 played 1st division Leeds in the National Cup in Gurteenard.
An unusual fast start by Kanturk had them 1-0 up in the opening quarter, a beautiful defence splitting pass by Patrick Healy was pounced upon by Ronan Weathers who smashed the ball home. Kanturk were rampant and should have added to their tally before half time, this was to prove costly
A much improved Leeds came hard at a tiring Kanturk team, and scored 3 unanswered goals, Kanturk had their chances and a magical run by Denis McCarthy deserved a goal, but it was not to be.
The proverbial game of two half’s.
