Kanturk continued their strong start to the season with a comprehensive performance versus Corinthians Boys in Gurteenard this morning. The Home side proved too strong for their illustrious opponents with outstanding displays right throughout the team.
Corinthians started strong and were proving quite a threat with passes in behind the Kanturk defence proving problematic.  It took all of Callum Dennehy's blistering pace with 4 minutes gone, to foil the Corinthians striker as he was about to pull the trigger. Shortly after, goalkeeper Billy Hayes pulled off a magnificent save, again reading the danger brilliantly, by diving bravely to the feet of the striker saving the Kanturk goal from point blank range.
This moment of bravery seemed to kick start Kanturk.  Captain Cian O Riordan leading by example,  opened his account firing in directly from a corner on 7 minutes.  Kanturk then utterly dominated the game with Peter Gubbins and top scorer Darragh Aherne firing in a hattrick each. Some of their goals were sensational with Aherne finding the top corner with a strike that no goalkeeper would have stopped.   Robbie McAuliffe also pitched in with a lovely finish for his second of the season.
Aiden Clifford,  Shaun Rahilly and Billy Sheill also turned in super performances with Clifford in particular showing his versatility both in the midfield and in the heart of defence.

As Corinthians did stage something of a revival, Kanturk stalwarts JJ Keane and Dylan Cott were required to stem the tide in midfield and reassert control of the game for Kanturk,  which they duly did. 7-2 it finished with every single boy wearing Kanturk Green and White playing his socks off.
