Kanturk U13 Girls continued their great run of form with a brilliant 5–1 win away to Macroom under the lights this evening.
The girls got off to the perfect start straight from kick-off. Nida Vaivade picked up the ball in midfield and slipped a lovely pass through to Ella Drennan, who finished calmly to make it 1–0.
Macroom worked their way into the game and equalised with a fantastic strike from distance that gave Leah O’Rahilly Drew no chance in the Kanturk goal.
Ten minutes later, Nida was brought down in the box and showed great composure to score from the penalty spot, putting Kanturk 2–1 ahead at half time.
Macroom started the second half strongly, pushing hard for another goal, but the Kanturk defence of Hannah, Amy, Emma, and Niamh stood firm.
Leah made several excellent saves to keep Macroom out and keep Kanturk in control.
The visitors got their third goal when Aoife Morgan reacted quickest to a loose ball from a corner and volleyed it home.
From there, Kanturk grew in confidence, and both Ella Drennan and Nida Vaivade added further goals to round off a fantastic 5–1 win.
A special mention goes to Ella Drennan and Saoirse Llerena for their hard work up and down the wings, but every player played their part in what was a great all-round team performance.
