On Sunday afternoon Kanturk AFC u14A took on Innishvilla A who are 4 divisions above them in the local cup.
On paper an easy win for Innishvilla, but this was a game on grass not paper.
Kanturk started slowly, failed to deal with a ball into the box and were 1-0 down quickly. Things went from bad to worse and on 17 minutes a penalty was conceded and dispatched to make it 2-0. Innishvilla were looking to romp home.
But these Kanturk lads rolled up their sleeves, dug deep and started playing some nice football. They were rewarded for their hard work as Finn Quinlivan reacted quickest to a loose ball and poked it home. 2-1. 
Shortly after Cian O’Riordan showed his goal poacher instincts when grabbing a well taken equaliser. 2-2 at halftime.
Into the second half and the game ebbed and flowed with both sides creating chances. 
Finally though Innishvilla got their noses in front, Kanturk created some goal scoring chances but it was not to be and Innishvilla held on for a narrow victory.
Kanturk 2-3 Innishvilla. 
A disappointing result but a great team performance against opponents 4 divisions above them.
